Volunteering Newcastle

The above video showcases the voices of volunteers from Newcastle-based organisations supported by the North of Tyne Volunteer Development and Social Action Programme during its first two years.

About Volunteering Newcastle

Volunteering Newcastle started through a 3-year project in to help develop volunteering in Newcastle.

We worked with Volunteer Centre Newcastle on this project. It ran from April 2023 to March 2026 and was paid for by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This fund was managed by the North East Combined Authority (NECA).

We are delighted that this work is now continuing as part of the Supporting Communities Project, funded by Newcastle City Council.

How We Support Organisations

Volunteering Newcastle supports organisations in Newcastle that work with volunteers.

We help by:

  • Checking your volunteer programme

We use a Volunteer Health Check to see what is working well and how things can improve.

We also give support if you work with volunteers who need extra help.

  • Listening to you

We listen to your ideas, worries, and feedback.

We share these with local decision-makers to help improve volunteering in Newcastle.

  • Running a volunteer network

We run the Newcastle Volunteer Coordinators’ and Managers’ Network with Volunteer Centre Newcastle.

This is a group of people who manage volunteers in their roles.

They meet four times a year.
