The Gardens Trust: Historic Parks and Gardens Projects

Closing date

The Gardens Trust has opened its 2026 Community Grant programme, offering grants of up to £10,000 to volunteer groups supporting historic designed landscapes across the UK. The fund is supported by a donation from the Gentian Trust.

The programme is intended to provide seed funding for sustainable activities linked to historic parks, gardens and other designed landscapes. Supported projects can include restoration plans, setting up Friends groups, research, volunteer training, tools and practical conservation work. Projects may include both capital and revenue costs.

Key highlights:

  • Volunteer groups anywhere in the UK can apply.
  • Applicants do not have to be registered charities.
  • Smaller charities are particularly encouraged.
  • Grants of up to £10,000 are available.
  • Projects should support conservation, knowledge-sharing or inclusive participation in historic designed landscapes.

Applicants must be active groups with a clear project plan and should demonstrate how the grant will help establish or strengthen sustainable activity. Previous grants have supported garden restoration, research, volunteer training and equipment.

Applications must be submitted by email using The Gardens Trust application form by 16 October 2026.
