Tell us about your organisation (history, aims, vision):
Hope Beyond Borders was founded by Katalina Sanchez, a Colombian migrant who has dedicated her career to addressing the challenges faced by vulnerable populations.
Katalina's lived experiences as a migrant and mother inspired her to create Hope Beyond Borders, addressing poverty, sustainability and social integration for families worldwide.
Right now there are three project coordinators from different Spanish-speaking backgrounds including Ecuador, El Salvador, and Spain itself. There are also thirteen volunteers that support families in different languages, such as Arabic, English, Portuguese, Spanish, and much more.
At Hope Beyond Borders, our vision is to:
- Enhance the wellbeing, safety and integration of different backgrounds of families and children.
- Advocate for green welfare by promoting sustainable, environmentally friendly practices and social work.
- Foster economic growth, social stability and environmental protection for future generations through education, empowerment and resilience.
Who do you serve? How do they access services?
Hope Beyond Borders is dedicated to transforming the lives of families and children, particularly migrants from diverse backgrounds including Europeans, South and Central Americans, and Arabs.
Locally, in the North East of England, we focus on disadvantaged communities through a community-driven approach. We also try to emphasise the interconnectedness between families, children and the environment, integrating social work, welfare support and environmental action.
What are your current projects or services?
