New WorkWell Scheme to help Newcastle Residents with Barriers to Work
Residents in Newcastle whose health is affecting their ability to stay in work, return to work, or find work can now access support via WorkWell, a new pilot scheme funded by the NHS North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board (NENC ICB).
WorkWell provides personalised support to help people manage health-related barriers to employment. This programme will be delivered locally by us, in partnership with Newcastle City Council.
Support may include referrals to health and wellbeing services, help with musculoskeletal or mental health challenges, advice on workplace adjustments, and access to wider voluntary sector, community, and employment support. Cutting-edge technology, such as AI physio programmes, will also be used to ensure that residents can benefit from care in a way that works for them.
Residents will be eligible for this support if they are aged 18 or over, have a Newcastle postcode, have eligibility to work in the UK, and are at risk of leaving work due to their health, off sick from work, or seeking to return to employment.
Michelle Robson, our Workwell Coordinator said: “WorkWell takes a holistic approach, helping people access the right support at the right time to improve both health and employment outcomes. We’re so pleased to be able to support the residents of Newcastle to find fulfilling employment to suit their health and wellness needs.”
We are also welcoming applications from local VCSE organisations who may be able to provide a service that fits within the WorkWell programme. Organisations can apply here.
