Trauma Informed Practice for Volunteer Coordinators
This event is for Volunteer Coordinators and any other staff that support volunteers in Newcastle.
Many volunteers bring valuable lived experience to their roles, but some may also carry the impact of past trauma. This practical and reflective training is designed specifically for volunteer coordinators working in Newcastle and is funded by Newcastle Council through our Newcastle Support into Volunteering Pathway. This training will help to build confidence in creating safe, inclusive and supportive volunteering environments.
The session will introduce the principles of Trauma Informed Practice, helping you to:
- Better understand what trauma is and how it can affect behaviour, communication and engagement
- Recognise common signs that a volunteer may be experiencing trauma-related challenges
- Create trauma-aware volunteering roles, boundaries and support structures
- Reflect on your own practice and wellbeing when supporting others
The training will be interactive, grounded in real volunteer management scenarios, and focused on realistic actions you can take back to your organisation.
This training takes place in-person at:
Summerhill Bowling Club
Winchester Terrace
