This Connected Voice Networking Event is for organisations based in Newcastle

Making Your Building Work for You is a networking event about the potentials, successes and challenges of owning and managing property in the VCSE sector.

For many organisations, owning, leasing, or managing space is an essential part of delivering the important work that they do. Community hubs, social spaces, cafes and shops; buildings are an important part of the VCSE sector. They allow people to come together, and help organisations to deliver long-term, embedded work with communities. However, balancing the cost of running a community-focused building with the benefits that it can bring can be a significant challenge.

Whether you’ve managed your own building for years or are just looking to take the next step into renting your first space, this networking event will give you opportunities to share knowledge, make connections, and learn about how other people are making buildings work for them.

There will be opportunities to hear from exciting speakers, as well as an extended structured networking activity to help people build connections. We will have speakers from:

The Lighthouse Project
Newcastle Council
Northern Powergrid Foundation

This is for voluntary organisations across Newcastle and Gateshead. There will be two events- one focused on Newcastle-organisations, and one focused on Gateshead-based organisations. Each event will have different speakers. You are welcome to attend either event, or both!
The event will take place at One Strawberry Lane

Address:

One Strawberry Lane

We may follow up with you if you are absent without letting us know.

Delivery This event will take place at One Strawberry Lane (an accessible venue). For more information about the venue see their website.

Accessibility Please let us know in advance if you have any accessibility requirements that would help you get the most out of this session. We will do everything we can to accommodate them. We can provide a BSL interpreter for training and events on request, but ask you to give us enough advance notice to enable this to be organised. To maximise resources, we are unable to provide BSL interpreters for all sessions unless we know this is essential.

Evaluation This event is free to attend but all participants will be required to complete a short evaluation on completion. This feedback enables us to continue delivering a free programme of training and events.

For security and practical reasons: You can only book one place for yourself. If a colleague wants to attend, they will need to book separately themselves. You must give us all the essential information requested so that we know your registration is genuine.

If circumstances change, you must advise us as soon as possible so that the place isn’t wasted as we have limited spaces for each event. You must also advise us if a substitute person from your organisation is attending in your place. We will be monitoring non-attendance, and may not accept future bookings from regular non-attenders.
