The engagement worker will enable West End Friends to connect and consult with Asian men in the community, for example working with our local Mosques to develop a further reach, consulting with community leaders and developing activity to meet the needs of older Asian men and support them to join in wider SEARCH activity.
We are looking for a male worker who is highly motivated and well organised individual with excellent communication skills. Ability to speak one of our community languages spoken by older people (Urdu, Punjabi, or Bengali) would be an advantage.
West End Friends is a project within SEARCH that works with people aged 50 and over from the Chinese and South Asian communities in the west end of Newcastle. The project is funded through The Lottery Community Fund and supports individuals to access health and social care and develops social and health opportunities in the community alongside the wider SEARCH team.
