Ramadan Calendars 2025

Ramadan is one of the holiest months of the Islamic calendar, and so it is very important for all of our Muslim communities. This year, Ramadan is expected to begin around Saturday 1/Sunday 2 March and end around Sunday 30 March, with the exact dates being subject to the visibility of the moon.
During Ramadan, Muslims fast during the daylight hours. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam, and Muslims fast to increase taqwa (closeness to God). Ramadan is also a time for families and communities to come together, strengthen connections, and donate to chosen charities.
It is a great honour to work with Haref on this year's Ramadan calendars. We look forward to working with Haref in the future, keep up the good work and Ramadan Mubarak to all.
Quote from Mr Bilal, Alhadi Islamic Centre/Gateshead Muslim Centre
Muslims who observe the month-long fast will not eat food, drink liquids or smoke from dawn to sunset. Anyone with serious health issues, or who is frail, pregnant or on daily medication/medical treatment is not expected to fast.
The idea for the prayer calendars came from our local Imams over 15 years ago and each year we work with them to develop and distribute the calendars to our local Muslim communities. Alongside the prayer times, the calendars contain safe fasting information, tips on managing diabetes, and managing your glaucoma. This important health advice is created in partnership with NHS Diabetes Centre, Glaucoma UK and Diabetes UK.
This year, Haref has worked with local mosques and Muslim centres across Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Gateshead to create unique calendars for each mosque. Prayer times are calculated using specific mathematics around the position of the sun, local time, longitude and latitude. For this reason, the prayer times vary between mosques, therefore they all need a dedicated calendar.
Our 2025 Ramadan calendars are available online and in print format. We are delivering the printed calendars to the mosques and Muslim centres involved and will also be sending them out to local community-facing buildings.
We appreciate your support and patience in helping to share this information with our communities.
You can find this year's calendars below - more individual mosque calendars will be added soon.
