Gateshead Volunteer Impact Report shows Power of Local Volunteering

Today marks the start of Volunteers' Week 2026 and like many other organisations we are shining the spotlight on the incredible impact that volunteering can have - both on individuals and the charities and groups that they support.

Our Gateshead Volunteer Centre (GVC) has produced a 2026 impact report, showing how they have supported Gateshead residents into volunteering, as well as sharing the stories of three inspirational volunteers; Vernon, Shadan, and Charlie.

From April 2025 to March 2026, GVC - via the OurGateshead website - processed over 930 enquiries from residents for volunteer roles featured on the site.

Through their Support into Volunteering service, they supported 42 residents with additional needs and multiple barriers into volunteer opportunities.
