The Non-Executive Directors and Observers that are being recruited for in this round are ones who have specific skills and experience to drive the strategic focus for Newcastle Creates, in which Culture has wide and impactful intersections with wider society.
We are actively seeking candidates from throughout the whole community for the following Board positions:
Directors to represent each of our 6 themes (Equality, Diversity & Inclusion; Prosperity; Opportunity; Place; Health & Wellbeing; Climate)
And in addition, we are seeking candidates for 3-4 Board Observers.
We will actively support anyone with access needs or any other characteristic to enable us to ensure the Board as a whole reflects the community we serve. The underpinning values of successful candidates will mean that they have a natural openness to different viewpoints and to seek community engagement. It is anticipated that the successful candidates already live in the Northeast and/or have a history of living or working in Newcastle.
These are unpaid roles and require a time commitment of 1-2 days per month. In addition to these 6 Directors, other Directors will be elected to form the Board, taking on roles of Chair, Vice Chairs, Secretary, Treasurer and Communications. Between 4 and 6 Directors will be co-opted onto the Board to represent significant stakeholders and the Board in total will be made up of between 16 and 20 Directors. The Directors will be the ‘public face’ of Newcastle Creates within the city and beyond, providing visible leadership for Newcastle Creates and informed advocacy for investment and support in the cultural sector for inclusive economic and social benefit. The Board will be supported by a wider Advisory Group, which will bring expertise to the service of Newcastle Creates, without the responsibility that goes with Directorship.
Applications will be accepted in one of the following formats – short video, recorded telephone conversation, written letter of one side of A4. Please email your application to joannachapman@live.co.uk with ‘Board Application’ in the subject box.
If you have any access requirements and need support with the application process, please contact Joanna Chapman at Newcastle Creates: joannachapman@live.co.uk
