Job or Trustee?
We offer a range of therapeutic and support services for children, young people and families affected by domestic abuse in North Tyneside and Northumberland. Due to predicted increased demand for our services, and the impact on our waiting lists resulting from COVID-19 and the related lock down, we have a vacancy within our Children's Recovery Team for an experienced, enthusiastic children's counsellor or play therapist.
The post holder will deliver trauma informed counselling/play therapy for children and young people aged 4-18 years, at our premises in North Shields, and potentially at suitable locations throughout North Tyneside. You will have a diploma in counselling, play therapy or equivalent, ideally at least 2 years post qualification experience with substantial proven practice hours and be skilled in working therapeutically with children and young people 4-18 years. It is desirable for you to be a driver with your own vehicle due to the potential flexible nature of the post.
We offer person centred therapy however we welcome applications from counsellors who are trained in additional therapeutic interventions which may add value to our offer to children and young people.
Please note days/hours will be worked over Wednesday – Friday due to room availability. This post is fixed term until end April 2021, with a possibility of extension dependant on funding.
Please see our website www.acornsproject.org.uk for more information on our work. If you would like an informal discussion about the role, please call the office on 0191 3498366 to arrange a call with the Manager.
